My passion for art and specifically watercolor has been an unexpected passion which sidestepped from life’s journey. It wasn’t until mi-life when I picked up a brush trying to paint the beauty that my camera didn’t capture.
My husband is Frederick H. Swanson whose environmental writing opened my life to breathtaking explorations of nature with each season. Through camping, backpacking and river trips, I was, and still am, awed by the geography of our protected lands. The medium of watercolor challenges me to express the freshness of color and light ranging from redrock to autumn leaves.
From the perspective of my Catholic faith I see nature as a gift to be enjoyed and protected. I hope my paintings are a reminder of special places that speak to your heart.
